The Inertia

It’s no secret that Santa Cruz has good waves. There are numerous bucket list-worthy spots lining the coast of the seaside city. But a spot you likely won’t find is the streets of the town’s neighborhoods. This local took advantage of the conditions, though.

Like most of the country, Santa Cruz has been experiencing weather of late. Earlier this week, a category three atmospheric river struck the central coast, causing major flooding in numerous Santa Cruz neighborhoods. The recent downpours resulted in three-inches of rain and the above Rio Del Mar neighborhood had over a foot of water covering its streets. In the video, a local surfer is towed behind a car on his turquoise board. And it looks like a seriously good time.
