The Inertia

This weekend, the Super Girl Surf Pro will return to Oceanside, California. The three-day event is live from September 22-24 at the Oceanside Pier, and will feature the largest female surfing contest in the world, as well as the only World Surf League WQS 3000 women’s event in the U.S.

The competition pool is deep, with a mix of CT, CS and QS competitors, including Caity Simmers, Sage Erickson, Alyssa Spencer, Bella Kenworthy,  Zoe McDougall, and Sawyer Lindblad, who returns to defend her title.

“It’s always inspiring to see these women out there just pushing the level every year,” Super Girl Pro ambassador Lindsey Jacobelli, an Olympic Gold Medalist and six-time World Champion in snowboarding, told FOX 5. “I love the empowerment that I feel, and it’s just amazing that you can see all of these young girls being able to interact with their idols and just have that exposure because that doesn’t happen at every event.”

While the centerpiece is the surfing competition, the Super Girl Pro has a bevy of other things on tap. For instance, there’s both a full-on beach volleyball and skimboarding tournament to watch. Then, once your thirst for sport has been sated, there’s celebrity speakers, panel discussions promoting female leadership and sustainability, and a concert with a host of musical performances.
