With just a month left to go until the US Open of Surfing, the World Surf League announced a special musical guest for the proceedings: legendary ’90s ska-punk trio Sublime.

The US Open, fully titled the Lexus US Open of Surfing Presented by Pacifico, will take place at the Huntington Beach Pier from August 3 – 11, 2024. The event has long been an iconic venue for showcasing emerging talent in the world of surfing, and a critical piece of the Challenger Series and Longboard Tour, for which it will be stop four and two, respectively.

Sublime will perform a headlining set on Saturday, August 3, right in the sand on the south side of the Huntington Beach Pier. Original members Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh will perform alongside Jakob Nowell, son of the late Bradley Nowell. The son of Sublime’s original frontman has been touring with the band since 2023, when a performance at a benefit concert for Bad Brains’ H.R. received such an overwhelming reaction from fans that it kicked off a new era for the band. Makua Rothman is also set to perform.

“What’s that I see in Huntington Beach??!! Sun, Surf, and Sublime at the US Open! Come claim your spot and be a part of history,” said Gaugh.

Tickets for the show will be available for pre-sale beginning Friday, June 28, at 8:00 a.m. PDT using the password: feellikethat. The general on-sale will open on Sunday, June 30, at 8:00 a.m. PDT.
