Of all the surfers in all the world who are the most fun to watch, Stephanie Gilmore is certainly up near the top. She’s got one of the smoothest, most graceful style out there, and it’s on full display even when she’s surfing in a contest. It’s a style that works for the judges, if her multiple world titles are anything to go by.
She recently came up against India Robinson at the Bells Beach event. Robinson, a 21-year-old rookie from Jan Juc, Australia, has had a solid year so far. Still, though, coming up against someone like Gilmore must be a little nerve-rattling, although you couldn’t tell from her performance. So far, she’s sitting on two fifth place finishes and two ninth place finishes (the second of which came in the heat you see above), but we’ll be mighty surprised if Robinson doesn’t become a major threat very soon.
