The Inertia

Who wouldn’t want to surf Playa Hermosa and stay in this place for $4k a week? Sign me up. And it’s super affordable if you do the math and the proper planning.

Here’s the game plan: First, we’re going to go to Vegas. Walk onto the MGM Grand casino floor, pull out $200 for some blackjack and sit at Jerry’s table (Hi Jerry! Miss you buddy!). Jerry’s going to give you a 3, then he’s going to give you an 8. Jerry will be showing an ace but you refuse insurance because you ain’t afraid. Obviously you double down your 11 against Jerry’s ace because still, you ain’t afraid. After much suspense and Jerry stopping mid-hand to check out the ladies walking by his table (Jerry does this from time to time), he’s going to give you a king (face down) and boom, your $200 is now $400 in one 30-second sequence. Then you know what you do with the $400? You let it ride. If you do that exactly five times consecutively you will have won enough loot for you and Jerry to stay in this place for a week, with a stash of black chips left over to pay for airfare.

It “floats” above the canopy of the rainforest, according to its posting on The Modern House, giving what’s probably the most amazing view anywhere in the world. Rainforest from above, the ocean, and mountains all within sight. There are three separate pods that sleep up to seven people with a bamboo corridor connecting each of them. And when you walk back from a surf you can cruise in the infinity pool, which sits within the canopy of the jungle. $4k well spent. Like I always tell my parents, it’s not gambling when you win.
