Having thrashed around in Cornish waters the my entire “surfing” life, I finally reached a point last year where I yearned to explore some foreign and exotic waves.

The long, cold British winters can make a mid-winter surf painful to the point where you step out the sea as a (barely) walking block of ice. The surf can often offer weeks of flat doldrums in the summer, and a foamy, stormy mess in the winter.

I had never experienced any sea other than the North Atlantic, and it was clear that I needed to appease my itchy feet, so I jumped on a budget airline flight to Agadir in the Kingdom of Morocco, and for seven days became their spring guest in a remote Berber village.

This short film captures the pilgrimage made to far away lands now easily bridged by a three hour flight.
