On November 11, 2013, a reasonable sized swell showed up off Hawaii. It was one that would catch fellow Peah’i (Jaws) chargers attention. A NNW swell started to fill in – not quite the direction for Jaws, but it seemed to be coming in at a good direction for the country side of Hana, Maui. Matt Meola was one of the many Maui surfers that decided to make the butt-numbing drive out, and after a quick local style plate lunch at one of the go-to spots, Matt decided to not let his food digest. He managed to fling a couple into the air before the cramps settled in. Maui has many beautiful places, but something about surfing in a jungle-like atmosphere with fun-sized air inducing waves, along with down right delicious food, can really call for a good trip, and a photo.
