Last week, at a spot in the Spanish Basque Country known for its big waves, called Meñakoz, a group of big wave surfers tamed the ledgy rock-reef break and its waves that broke in excess of 20 feet.
Also known as Meniakos, the notorious spot played host to the likes of Grant Twiggy Baker, Adur Letamendia, Fernando Riego, David Bustamante, Skeet Derham, Andoni Fernández Ostolaza, Axi Muniain, Pilou Ducalme and Ander Mendiguren.
This preceded Jaws‘ epic two-day run of swell and solid, 12-15 foot conditions at Haleiwa for the Reef Hawaiian Pro. Fair to say it’s the Northern Hemisphere’s time. And it’s shining.
