$Gavin Beschen has always been one of my all-time favorite surfers. I always get so psyched to surf with him and now the same goes for shooting. $The second day of the trip, the swell really started to show. The wind wasn\'t good off the bat so I cruised around the beach with my camera for a while. It\'s important to have offshore winds at Puerto. Otherwise, it\'s just way too dangerous. Photo: <a href=\"http://www.hungrywalrus.com/\" target=_blank>John Maher</a>$

$What you may not have seen was Greg Long\'s next deep beast. He didn\'t make the barrel, but he did as good as anyone could have. After this set, the conditions got funky again. I’ve always had an appreciation for water photography, but it wasn’t until a few months ago that I decided to invest in it. Now I spend half my time in the water surfing and the other half shooting photos. It’s a great balance.

Here are a series of images I shot over four days during the recent swell at Puerto Escondido, Mexico. This trip is the first time I’ve shot surfers in the water.
