The South Bay of Los Angeles gets waves. But it can also be a big tease. The surf can look good from shore, only to be anything but once you get in the water. The South Bay can also get some fantastic barrels. But it’s a pretty rare occurrence.
That’s why I decided to dig into the files on this one, to showcase a day of well-shaped waves – waves that were only marginally makeable. This is three minutes of raw surfing clips from May 5, 2022 in Hermosa Beach. These were some beautiful barrels, that only a few surfers could catch up with.
