A wise surfer once said, “If you want the ultimate, you’ve got to be willing to pay the ultimate price.” One Point Break fan might have just found her ultimate price: $64,000, the amount shelled out for Bodhi’s Spyder surfboard, recently put up for auction with a bunch of other items from the late actor’s estate. That Dennis Jarvis-designed stick was featured in the 1991 cult classic’s night surfing scene. The shaper accounted for Swayze’s “unusually pronounced sternum” by shaping a 15-inch-long, 1.5-inch-wide channel in the center of the stick.
You can catch a glimpse of the board in the party scene in the clip embedded below at 3:23.
Aside from the aforementioned sled, the auction featured two wetsuits the late actor used in the filming or training for the movie, as well as his skydiving gear, and another Spyder surfboard he learned on.
Swayze’s full wetsuit fetched a cool $9,375. His shorty suit, in which “Bodhi” was written in marker on the inside of the neck gasket, netted $8,960. His training board, another Spyder designed by Dennis Jarvis, pulled in $7,680, and his skydiving gear went for $4,480.
