On April 19, Snapper Rocks surfers woke up to a sight that made their hearts beat a little faster. It was Snapper doing what it does best: absolutely firing. As is the norm when Snapper goes off, there were hundreds of surfers in the water, and among them were a handful of pros waiting for the Margaret River Pro to fire the starting gun. Kelly Slater was there — he, in fact, showed up in Western Australia for the Marg’s event at about 3 a.m. because he just didn’t want to leave the Gold Coast (well, that and a few travel hiccups).
