There’s a time to use a foil. And there’s a time not to use foils. When it’s windy, small and nobody’s out, that definitely qualifies. Maybe that’s why Chicama looks so outrageously fun in this piece above. Combine speed with power (especially with a wing) and things just look a whole lot more enjoyable and dynamic. Chicama is of course a treasure in the surfing world – one of the longest left-hand points in the world. But the conditions these guys scored it in definitely gave it the reverence it deserves. If nobody’s out, and there’s shape to it, you gotta take advantage of the conditions somehow. And this is exactly the way to do it.
