The Inertia

It doesn’t take long nowadays for word to travel when a significant swell hits a world-class wave. Skeleton Bay might be about as remote as top-tier destinations come, however, so when the place does go off we tend to see highlights trickle in over time. Count this week as one of those instances. We’ve seen some clips here in there but you can expect the full highlight reels, vlogs, and edits to start rolling in any day now, and it looks like this particular swell was a doozy.

Jumping ahead of the rush was a message from Nic von Rupp, who spent a solid three days scoring the left hander with the world’s coolest guy, Pedro Boonman, Jordi Mare, Max Elkington, and Adur Amatrian. The time and effort they put into getting through West Africa clearly paid off.

By our count, Skeleton Bay doesn’t see swells that go viral annually. While plenty of people do make the trek, conditions like this past week are still really special.
