On November 11th, the city of Montreal dumped eight billion gallons of raw sewage into the Saint Lawrence River. But the river isn’t just any old river. It’s my local surf spot. It’s my home. As a result, the entire surfing community in Montreal is extremely outraged at the city’s mindless decision, because surfing here is now a liability. The scads of pollutants now present in the river can pose a great threat to anyone who wishes to enter the water.
Before the city’s atrocious judgement, surfer and shaper William Pichet got to surf this incredible wave one last time before having to wait several weeks, maybe even months, to do it again. It was a pristine day. Every favorable condition aligned to produce pure magic. William was able to get several long rides on his self-shaped Ananus Wet Dream longboard. He makes cross steps and hang tens on that wave look way too easy.
