The southern hemisphere’s winter hasn’t been a particularly memorable one when it comes to waves. Sure, there have been a few swells that did good things, but over all, it’s been relatively slow. So when Tim Bonython, a man who spends his life chasing swells to the biggest waves all over the world, saw a swell on the charts big enough to make Shipstern Bluff work, he moved fast.
“I rallied up a team including 12-year-old brothers Loci and Ballin Cullen. Both come from my village of Avalon,” he wrote. “As well as bodysurfers Corey Sainsbury and Caitlin Callahan. How it all panned out created a very adventurous trip.”
