For thousands of years, the ocean has often had a feminine connotation both in mythology and general perception. She Is the Ocean, a full length documentary from Russian writer/director Inna Blokhina seeks to explore this mythological connection between the ocean and femininity through the lives of nine powerful women, their love for the ocean, and the different ways they interact with it. Inna Blokhina is also the creator of On The Wave, the first Russian surf documentary featuring surfers from around the world (including the GOAT himself, Kelly Slater). She Is the Ocean premieres this Friday, October 16. To find a watch party (some including live Q/A with Inna Blokhina and members of the cast), check out the website here.
