There’s an old saying about killing two birds with one stone – it refers to getting two things that you want while making one effort to get them. I’m guessing that saying wasn’t constructed with shark fishing in mind because catching two sharks with one line sounds impossible. And very dangerous.
The above picture was taken by a research team at the University of Delaware while on a mission to recapture previously tagged sand tiger sharks. Upon catching a dogfish (the smaller shark), a much larger sand tiger shark swallowed the little guy whole.
In my mind, this unusual catch invokes plates of “turducken,” which is a combination of turkey, duck and chicken commonly reserved for fancy dinner affairs like Thanksgiving. So, we introduce to you the sharkducken or tigerdogshark: the turducken of the sea.
