The Inertia

Glenn Pang has been making surfboards for a long time. He’s had his hands in the foam at T&C Surf, one of the world’s most iconic surf brands, for over four decades. In those years, he’s figured a hell of a lot of stuff out. Stuff that makes surfboards do certain things. Little changes that make big differences. From blank to finished product, you’ll be hard-pressed to find anyone in the shaping game as knowledgable as Pang. So when he gives a lesson, you’re going to learn some stuff.

In the video above, Pang walks the viewer through the differences between EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) and Poly (Polyurethane) surfboard constructions. He delves deep into the unique properties, performance factors, and construction processes of both, and explains how both affect your surfing experience, buoyancy, maneuverability, durability, and overall board performance in different wave conditions.
