The Inertia

Hawaii has a tendency to spew out a ridiculous number of hyper-talented surfers. There must be something in the water, and it’s likely that something is a whole bunch of good waves. Pair those waves with a culture steeped in surfing, and it’s to be expected that each generation of surfers is just going to be better than the last. One of the things about Hawaiian surfers is that they’re often very well-rounded. Big waves, barrels, aerials—they excel in pretty much anything except small and junky waves, which, if we’re being honest should only be surfed in the absence of good waves.
So when Shane Dorian gathered up Kona groms Brodi Sale, Jackson Dorian, CJ Bruno, and Kaiola Bray and headed to the BSR park in Waco, Texas, what went down was pretty much what you’d expect: froth, laughter, a bunch of really good surfing.
