Shane Dorian is a bit of a godfather figure out at Jaws. While the next generation, like the Billy Kempers and Kai Lennys et al., have well and truly taken up the mantle, the name Shane Dorian is and always will be synonymous with Jaws. Back in 2016, he let everyone know that he’s still the king out at the world’s best big wave.
It was during that historic El Nino season where the ocean went nuts. Dorian was on his game. His surfing was precise and on point. The steepest drops, the deepest pits, the biggest waves — those were what he was looking for. And boy oh boy, did he ever find them. Marcus Rodrigues was in the spot on the cliff to get the footage you see above, and we’re sure glad he was.
