Remember when Kelly Slater released the first footage of his wave pool on the same day Adriano de Souza won his world title? That was mean, wasn’t it? Well, Barefoot Ski Ranch Cable Park just attempted to do the same thing to Kelly Slater. On the first day of the Founders’ Cup in Lemoore, California, they’ve released footage of their own wave.

BSR came out with the news that they’d be joining the wave pool race back in 2016. Located about two hours north from Austin’s NLand Surf Park, they’re using a different technology from the Surf Ranch or NLand. American Wave Machines, the company that designed their wave, has actually been creating waves for the last decade. Using something called Perfect Swell Technology, they can reportedly create “an infinite variety of waves appealing to surfers of all levels, and no need for special pool bottom contours.”

BSR Ranch has been operational for a long time, but this is their first foray into the surfing game. Already, they’ve got a wakeboard cable park, a waterslide and the world’s largest lazy river. Both Jamie O’Brien and Cheyne Magnussun had a hand in the design of the wave and judging from the footage above, they did a bang up job.
