Although it’s quite late in the season, a low-pressure system spinning off the coast of Ireland delivered solid groundswell for the West Coast of Europe. We packed up our gear and headed to the Basque Country. We were met with clear, sunny skies and light southerlies that perfectly complimented the swell. Additionally, this particular swell happened to coincide with spring tides, exposing rarely surfed reefs and offering flawless conditions along the Basque cliff faces. Having a boat meant that we could check spots easily, while Ibon’s local knowledge allowed us to get to otherwise inaccessible points and slabs.
