Owen Kaestner grew up in the Virgin Islands out of the surf spotlight. He was raised by his father in a tropical paradise. His sister grew up in Montauk, New York, with her mother but didn’t take advantage of the good surf out there. Owen moved to San Diego County in October and has been blowing up despite now having to wear a wetsuit after trunking it most of his life in the Caribbean. His younger sister, Kerry, is taking some gap time after completing her first year of college in Holland. She has delayed formal school and has gone to surf school in California.
Owen has been surfing for years, and Kerry has been surfing for three weeks. Think there is something in the genes? I sure do.
