Every year for the past few years, the World Surf League has descended on Margaret River in Western Australia for what’s arguably one of the best events on tour when the waves show up. For a huge swath of surf fans, sharks and Margaret River Main Break (and its neighbor The Box) may be the extent of their knowledge of WA.
Unlike Australia’s highly developed east coast, though, Western Australia is rugged, wild, and for those willing to explore it is a bastion of big, throaty, powerful surf. The above is a ten-minute love letter to the zone that’s absolutely cinematic.
