The Inertia

Rob Machado knows a lot about surfboard design. That’s a function of two things: he’s crazy good at surfing, and he’s put in some serious time studying the art of shaping. He’s also not a guy who’s all that interested in creating standard thrusters that a pro might ride on tour, and as a result, many of his surfboards are a little more suited to the Average Joe. Case in point: The Sunday.

“The Sunday is a shape I designed to be ridden anywhere from 5’6″ to 7’3,” Machado wrote. “My favorite sizes, personally, are the 5’6″ and the 7’0″, and I ride both as a twin fin most of the time.”

In the short video above, shared on Rob’s new YouTube channel, he takes The Sunday out for a spin on a fine-looking day in Mexico. He’s riding the 7’0″ set up as a twin fin, and it’s yet another example of just how smooth and effortless his surfing is.
