Rincon ain’t called The Queen of the Coast for nothing. On a coastline with a whole lot of amazing waves, it stands out as one of the best. It’s a classic California point break and on the right swell, there’s no place better. It comes with a problem, though. Because California is so surfy, Rincon is one of the best waves in the Golden State, and the place is in plain sight of the highway, it’s not exactly empty. But if you can navigate the crowd and get yourself a good one… well, it might just be one of the best waves of your winter.
That’s why, on December 9, all eyes were on Rincon as the first real big swell of the year put the California coast in its sights. And hoo boy, did it ever deliver.
