Editor’s Note: Every morning, I check the weather forecast on my phone. And to no surprise at all, it’s typically a row of seven happy little sunshine icons and list of numbers in their seventies to the right of each one. Shorts and flip flops today… again.
The San Diego sun just keeps on shining. With arguably one of the best climates on the planet, Southern California is the land with little (or no) seasons. And for the SoCal locals, this winter had been highly anticipated as one of the gnarlier winters we’d be seeing in a long time (cue the Jeopardy theme song now).
Although El Niño has been showing us plenty of love down here, the torrential downpour, and the harsh, crazy storms that many of us had prepped for are far from evident. But alas! The waves are still here, the sun is still shining, and I think I have a better tan now than I did in July (cue the soft little violin song now).
Videographer, Steve Mara, brings us yet another fun little edit of the recent fortune of the San Diego locals. Rough life.
In San Diego it’s starting to feel like summer, but the winter swells are still rolling through. This warm sunny Saturday at Cardiff brought everyone to the beach: shortboarders, longboarders, SUPers, and plenty of people who were happy just to lay on the beach in the sun.
It was a dreamy day for anyone who likes surfing rights. Plenty of waves, and the crowd wasn’t terrible. And if you sat out the back, you could have caught one of the epic cleanup sets that rolled over everyone (see the last clip in the video).
I had to get in on the action myself after filming for a couple hours, and yes it was as fun as it looks!
