This week on Maui was a very eventful one. This week in the Hawaiian Islands was eventful, as a matter of fact. We don’t often think of this time of year as “big-wave” season in Hawaii. No, that’s usually the winter, when swells generated in the Northern Hemisphere slam into the Islands. Summer is a time we think of longboarding at Queens, or a few barrels at Ala Moana when the south swells turn on. But this week, oh, this week the Islands saw a south swell of epic proportions. And it turned on waves that haven’t been seen in years. Like Freight Trains on Maui. And Ridge Lenny, along with Kai, was there to score. He posted this raw POV look at a wave that hasn’t been seen in a decade. It looked fast, scary at times, and epic at others. Have a look again from Ridge’s perspective.
