The Inertia

It’s always crazy how quickly time flies right by. This week has marked the first anniversary of Jay Adams’ untimely and early passing, and anniversaries always seem like the best time to sit back and reflect on important moments.

Whether you loved Jay simply because you knew he played a massive role in shaping something you love, or you never forgave him for a violent and drug filled past, nobody was happy to hear the news the day Jay Adams passed away on a surf trip. We all knew that last trip for Jay had closed the books on at least one special piece of surfing and skating history. And that’s what makes this little find, a whole year later, special. Eight minutes of highlights from Jay’s Venice Beach memorial paddle out in August of 2014. Hearing what those closest to him had to share when it was all still fresh should put a smile on your face. Besides, who wouldn’t miss that one friend who’s always the first to call you when it’s triple firing?
