Presented by Red Bull, Foam Wreckers is the ultimate anti-surf surf contest. The idea is simple: only foam boards are allowed and anyone is welcome to participate. This weekend, the event returned to T Street in San Clemente, California, bringing with it lots of good vibes and good times.

Often referred to as the ultimate “anti-surf surf contest,” Foam Wreckers is one of the most unconventional and fun competitions in surfing. Foam boards are provided and anyone and everyone is invited to enter, regardless of his or her surfing knowledge or experience.

“There’s points for everything, you don’t have to have any surfing knowledge or have surfed before to win this weekend,” foamie master and event founder Jamie O’Brien told Fox 5. “We have been known to throw out tens for some pretty randomly fun reasons.”

The event was a hit and included solo foam board rides, tandem foam board rides, lots of fun prizes, and even haircuts by J.O.B. himself. The weekend was filled with lots of sunshine and stoke, with plenty of impressive and entertaining performances.

“I think [the event] educates people that competition is not all serious,” O’Brien told Fox 5. “It’s about having fun, being in the ocean, and being with friends. That’s why we get into the sport— we don’t do it to win, we do it to have fun with our friends and get away from the reality from the real world.”
