What do you do when surf is firing, but also happens to be two feet tall? You call in the little guns.
I’ve often looked at diminutive, but well-shaped shorebreak and thought about how amazing it would be to be a six-inch tall surfer. Sure, foilers can actually often take advantage of small surf that would madden a shortboarder, but why should they have all the fun?
Well, BEEFS TV has found the solution. The YouTube channel, run by Chris Monroe, is primarily known for its reliably exhilarating raw footage of Southern California surf breaks, accented by good-natured and often hilarious running commentary. However, Chris has an ace up his sleeve when the waves are too tiny for a full-sized human: RC Surfer.
The radio controlled toy is as much a signature of the channel as edits of thundering Wedge, and this time it was the very much the right tool for the job. In this latest video, Monroe and frequent collaborator Kalani Robb brought out their pint-sized assistant to shred up some teeny tiny glassy barrels.
This time, Monroe found himself in front of the camera, piloting the nigh twelve-inch craft while Robb filmed and provided his own extremely spicy commentary. “You’re the biggest idiot on earth, Chris” said Robb, after Monroe hits the eject button in the face of a perfect (for RC Surfer) tube.
Sometimes the little guns also miss.
