If surfers were to have a favorite running back it would have to be Raheem Mostert. Mostert, now playing in his home state with the Miami Dolphins after going to a Super Bowl with the 49ers, grew up surfing New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Celebrations being a thing in the NFL, Mostert’s surfing celebration as a tribute to the wave-chasing days of his youth have become pretty well known.
Well, yesterday, Mr. Mostert got to bust out that celebration in a big way against the Denver Broncos, scoring four teeders as the Fish hung 70 points on the Donkeys. Raheem even got a shout out from the GOAT, a fellow Floridian of course. “Raheem Mostert, making (Florida) surfers proud in the end zone,” wrote Kelly Slater on his Instagram stories.
Of course the NFL, being the Death Star that it is, won’t allow sharing of its YouTube assets, so you’ll have to watch Raheem’s highlights and subsequent celebrations here.
“When I do my touchdown celebration, it just brings me back to being a kid and enjoying life,” Mostert says. “I enjoy life. You got to to be able to enjoy what you do.”
Definitely the surfers’ favorite running back.
