It’s easy to looks at guys like Mark Healey and hold some degree of envy. His accomplishments—from riding on the backs of massive great whites to charging arguably the biggest wave ever paddled into—are indeed a testament to his special relationship and understanding of the ocean. There might be a little bit of insanity there, too. However, Mark’s special relationship with the ocean could not be possible without special gear and a particular set of skills that Mark, like all great watermen, have learned and fine-tuned over the years.
Ask yourself: Have you ever wished you could somehow maximize your enjoyment in the water? Have you wanted to try new water sports, but lacked the equipment and didn’t know where to even begin? This is where Mark Healey and his new company, Waterman’s Pack, come in.
Every other month, Mark and other world-class watermen curate a package with their favorite gear aimed at expanding your horizons above and below the ocean’s surface. Additionally, they will send you a link to online content where the curating waterman presents tips and tricks to get the most out of each item. In the spirit of the waterman ethos, each pack benefits a charity selected by the curator. Their goal is to provide members with the right equipment, combined with some insider knowledge and motivation, to get you out of your comfort zone and try something new in the water.
Each pack includes one main gear-focused item, such as dive equipment, fins, utility tools, performance apparel, and much more. With the main item comes two to three smaller items and a piece of limited edition apparel. The smaller items range from sunscreen, nutritional items, training equipment, books, artwork, dvds, digital downloads, and much more. In total, each pack totals $100+ in retail value.
The first Waterman’s Pack is now available, curated by Mark with a portion of the proceeds going to the organization, Nā Kama Kai. Mark has selected items from Riffe International Spearguns, REV’D Life, and Waterman’s Applied Science to be included in the pack. To celebrate the launch, Waterman’s Pack is giving away the “Healey Water Experience,” which includes a trip to the North Shore of Oahu to spend a day on the water with Mark Healey himself.
