Remember all the hype around J-Bay? “Best right point in the world,” everyone says. Well, that happens a lot with surfing – places that can, with the right swell, be perfect. But a lot of the time the contest window doesn’t allow for that perfection to be showcased. Everyone sits around hoping for what they know is possible, and it’s just a giant disappointment.Then everyone complains about the death of the Dream Tour and the surf industry in general.
But not so with the final day at the J-Bay Open. No one’s complaining. It was practically perfect in every way. And we got to see what we want: The best surfers in the world on one of the best waves in the world. And we are entertained!
