Matthew Allen is an artist from Southern California. The former Surfer Magazine Art Director now spends much of his time illustrating type for big wig clients like Ford, Crate & Barrel and Bon Appetite Magazine. Matthew hasn’t abandoned his surf roots though. Out of the ashes of his former clothing line, “The Ryde,” he has built a new project aptly named “Brine & Byway.” Inspired by classic California and the men who embraced a lifestyle of diversified passions, Brine & Byway features a healthy dose of surfboards and beards with a touch of mountains and motorcycles. Not to be outdone by his tactile artistic pursuits, Matthew is also a photographer with a penchant for film grain, light leaks and lens flares.
