$This shot was taken in Puerto Rico. There weren\'t many people making it out into the lineup this morning. Although it does look inviting, those sets approaching out the back landed directly in front of Leif Engstrom and Darren Muschette, the two surfers paddling over the first peak. $From where this photo was shot, you usually can\'t see any waves at all unless it\'s several feet overhead. Here you see the entire face of the wave. This photo was shot down in Puerto Rico and is actually featured on the cover of the Surfrider Foundation Global Surf Calendar for 2012. Evan Conway, aka Econ, is a 22-year-old self taught photographer who was born and raised on Long Island, New York. He has been shooting surf photography since he first picked up a camera at fifteen to document the waves in New York and display them on his surf media website, Reddawnproductions. His work had been published in print before graduating from high school and was featured in multiple different online publications. You can find Evan’s work in the 2010 & 2012 Global Surf Calendar by The Surfrider Foundation, various issues as well as online features published by Eastern Surf Magazine, swell stories by Surfline.com, and previous issues of Surge Bodyboard magazine, to name a few. With future plans to attain his Bachelor’s Degree in fine arts with a concentration in Photography, Evan always remains busy whether it’s shooting, surfing, going to school or selling his artwork.
