Remember back in the day when Poopies showed up in Jamie O’Brien’s vlogs? For a while there, it was the Poopies show. For me, at least — without him, Jamie’s vlogs wouldn’t have been nearly as good. Sometimes he felt like a bit of a punching bag, though, but a punching bag that was fully willing to get punched over and over and over again. When Jamie said jump, Poopie’s asked how high. But then, Poopies spread his wings and struck out on his own. And then, lo and behold, Poopies ended up as one of the newest members of the Jackass crew (really made his mark when he was attacked by sharks for those guys, didn’t he?), and his star rose exponentially higher. Now, of course, Poopies is probably better known outside of the surfing world than Jamie is. He’s a lovable guy who wears his heart on his sleeve, isn’t he?
When he first appeared in Jamie’s videos, he was a pretty average surfer. As the years ticked by, however, we watched as he got better and better, continuously throwing himself over bigger and bigger waves, slamming often but never giving up. Recently, he decided to head to Tahiti to try his hand at Teahupo’o, and although the reef did give him a bit of a love tap, he sent it as hard as Poopies sends it… which is very hard.
