For Pipe surfers like Nathan Florence, the first real swell of the winter is a day to look forward to. Sure, Nate spends the rest of the time chasing waves all over the planet, but you can bet that in the back of his mind, he’s always got a bit of Pipeline bouncing around. And on October 17, that day showed up.
There have been a few sneaky swells over the last few weeks, but they were just warm ups. With October just about done, we’re well and truly into the the North Shore season. Pipeline opened with a bang, and the barrels, beatdowns, and cleanup sets were exactly what the doctor ordered.
