On November 3, Pipeline opened its doors. Winter is coming, as they say, and opening weekend was one for the books.
According to Oahu Surf Films, a seven-foot northwest swell with a 16-second period slammed into the fabled stretch of reef, and as you’d expect, North Shore surfers were there to welcome it with open arms.
It’s tough to beat Pipe when it comes to perfect waves, and although this swell wasn’t as good as it gets, it sure was good enough to warm up the shoulders and get the feet in the wax. With any luck, it’s a harbinger of what’s to come.
