The Inertia

When winter hits on the North Shore, it’s the most exciting time of the year. The North Shore is full of surfers who love to drink that famous Hawaiian juice, and there’s no place to sip the nectar like Pipeline. It’s still relatively early in the season, but Pipeline’s grand opening was (hopefully) a harbinger of things to come.

“Surfline was calling it 10-15 feet this day,” Off Da Lip wrote in its YouTube video description of the edit you see below, “though nothing above eight feet was really rideable.”

While there were a few 10 footers that rolled through the lineup, the smaller ones didn’t swing quite so wide and kept their shape a little better than the bigger ones. All involved, though, had a hell of a warm up for what’s on the horizon, and if early season conditions are anything to judge by, that horizon is full of waves.
