It’s tough these days to score Pipeline relatively empty. It’s arguably the most famous wave on the planet, and the most famous surfers surf there on the best days. Add that to the fact that the North Shore is full of really, really good surfers, and you’ve got a recipe for a big crowd. But sometimes, just sometimes, the masses shake their heads at it.
“This footage is from one of the many epic days during the two-week long swell bender in February ’25,” wrote Off Da Lip in a video called Pipeline So Big That It Chased Away the Crowd.
Of course, it wasn’t completely empty — more spread out, if anything — but Pipeline on a day with rideable waves never will be. Still, those in the water during this day (and the days before and after) will likely remember this run of swell for a long, long time.
