Loren Silva and I, from Freesoul Projects, had the opportunity to travel to Santa Cruz, California to meet with the Dennis Family. We discovered a warm-hearted story of a dad learning to surf with his daughter while passing down his sense of adventure and love of the ocean to his kids. David Dennis incorporated surfing in all facets of his life from his family to recreation and now a new company he co-founded called Ventana Surfboards and Supplies based in Santa Cruz, California. By using his passion for surfing and his love for the ocean, David teamed up with Martijn Stiphout to develop a new concept for creating surfboards, which uses environmentally friendly reclaimed wood to create wooden surfboards, hand planes, and other surf supplies.
