Palm Springs Surf Club just can’t catch a break. The attraction was first conceived in 2018 and originally planned for a 2020 opening, which was delayed to 2021 due to the COVID pandemic. Then, 2021 came and went without an opening and updates became few and far between. Finally, at the end of December, the club announced it would open in the new year. Now, just weeks after the facility held its first sessions at “the heaviest pool slab ever,” the wave pool is reported to be non-operational.
The surfing wave pool was confirmed to be closed by NBC Palm Springs. However, they also witnessed firsthand that the rest of the facility is running and accepting patrons. Workers on site confirmed that all the non-surfing attractions remain open, including lazy river, the surrounding pools and restaurant.
On the PSSC website, online bookings for the wave pool are unavailable. Surprisingly, it appears the $3,500 private sessions can still be scheduled, some as early as this week.
“We don’t have a timeframe yet to reopen the wave pool,” said PSSC representatives to NBC. When we contacted PSSC for comment regarding the reason for the closure, a representative replied that they would make a public statement once they have “clarity on the timeline.”
