If you’re not stuck in paradise while the rest of the world is stuck in their living rooms, you’d be forgiven for not being entirely aware of the fact that the last month of the pandemic has coincided with some of the best runs of swell in recent memory. In Indonesia, that is. Uluwatu has been all-time. Padang Padang, too. And if you need more evidence (you do), just click into the video Surfers of Bali dropped on its YouTube channel.
“The swell kicked into another gear yesterday and Padang Padang was feeling it,” channel mods wrote on July 29th. “The mid-morning low tide was pretty mellow, which may account for it not being as hollow as we’re used to seeing. Nevertheless, there were some fine, chunky lips and plenty of un-makeable sections dishing out broken boards and beat downs. But with so many waves, there were also lots of great barrels and a bunch of skilled surfers up to the task of threading the needle.”
