outer reef wipeout

The Inertia

The Hawaiian Islands have been firing the last few days. Pipeline was huge. Jaws was too. And at this outer reef – like most outer reefs – it only works when things are very big.

Outer reefs are mysterious places. Those in the know have them dialed, but they’re not places for the faint of heart. They’re a long way from shore (hence the name “outer”) and about as heavy as heavy gets. Equipment is required, and so is patience, courage, and a whole lot of experience. Even with those things, though, wipeouts are inevitable, and this video is a good example of that.
