The Inertia

Rob Machado is universally recognized as one of the greatest surfers ever to set foot on a surfboard. Wouldn’t that be an odd thing? To go down to your local spot in your busted up old Dodge van, wander through the parking lot, and just know that everyone with a surfboard under their arm knows who you are? Rob, of course, is used to it by now. And truth be told, so are most of the people in that parking lot. It’s just an average day for both Rob and all those people who know him. And with average days come average waves, which is what the board Rob is riding was created for. The Moonbeam was shaped with small, weak waves, “the kind of waves I ride a lot here in San Diego, or an average day in Japan,” Rob said.

“I gave the Moonbeam a nice and wide nose, like the Midas for skatiness in small waves.” Machado explained.
“The Moonbeam is meant to go fast and have fun.” Although there are similarities, this board’s a little different than the Midas. A bit more rocker in the nose and tail and, of course, a strange looking tail. Whatever board he’s on, though, Machado is going to make it look fun.
