Every year, the North Shore graces us with something different. Some years the wind is light, the ocean is smooth and waves are perfect; then there are years it is large, a long-period swell with gusty trades, and maybe the sand just isn’t right; and then there is also everything in between. This year was definitely a mixed bag — but it still held glimmers of gold.
Coming from California, it is interesting to see how fast Hawaii can change and it’s exciting when you find yourself in one of those windows. My brother, Mike, and I were fortunate enough to spend some time chasing that gold, finding a couple windows during the process. Here’s what we got…
