Alex Lopez is definitely his father’s son. He makes boards that suit the kind of surfing he grew up with; the kind of surfing Gerry Lopez does. Smooth, graceful, and full of style. While it’s impossible to replicate Gerry’s surfing, Noa Mizuno has his own style, and it’s about as smooth and graceful as you can get.
Alex recently shaped a beautiful twin fin that suits Mizuno’s surfing like a glove. It’s called the Diamond Twin. It’s nimble and quick under the feet, with a forward leaning wide point and a pulled in tail. It’s skatey, lively, and, thanks to the winged diamond tail, turns a little more on pivot than a swallow tail or rounded pin.
