Nissan just unveiled a concept car designed by surfers for surfers, and it’s packed with some pretty sweet features – including a portable shower system and a “changing booth.”
According to a recent press release, Nissan’s Latin America studio partnered with brothers Alejo and Santiago Muniz asking them what they’d like to see in a vehicle.
“We imagined it would have to be the perfect ally for the lifestyle and needs of surfers,” explained John Sahs, leader of the Nissan design team, in the release.
A waterproof wristband that can lock and unlock the car also remedies perhaps one of the more annoying aspects of parking your rig at the beach – figuring out what to do with your keys (especially if it’s electronic).
If we’re being honest, we’re not big on the colors – blue with yellow-green accents. But, according to Sahs that was a thoughtful choice, too.
“Blue is an evolving color that goes from dark to light, and we used it to represent the variety of tones in ocean water,” he said. “The bright yellow-green accents, together with the blue, gives the Nissan Kicks Surf concept vehicle a dynamic and sporty feel.”
Sadly, this little number is still in the concept phase and if there’s one thing we’ve learned over the years about concept vehicles (like the highly-anticipated VW bus remake), we won’t hold our breath until they’re in production.
